Registration open for 2016 Dead North Film Festival

Deadline to enter: January 10, 2016

Yellowknife, NWT - The world’s only circumpolar genre film challenge and festival is gearing up for another year of northern filmmaking madness.

First-time and veteran filmmakers from North of 60 are asked to come up with their best original horror, science fiction or fantasy films for our fourth annual filmmaking challenge. For the first time, the competition has been opened up outside of Canada’s three northern territories to include Greenland and Alaska, making it truly circumpolar.

Teams will be tasked with making short films over nine weeks in the dead and dark of winter, and submissions will be screened with even bigger picture and sound at the Capitol Theatre in Yellowknife on February 26-28, 2016. All finished films will be posted online for viewing outside of the Northwest Territories.

“Dead North is designed to showcase the Northern imagination and inspire even the most amateur filmmakers to bring their ideas to the screen,” says Dead North Festival Director Meagan Wohlberg. “We hope to see entries from communities across the circumpolar world that highlight the chilling beauty of the North.”

Registration is now open. The deadline to enter is January 10 and the entry fee is $100 per team.
